Science Writer
I studied biology at Georgetown University and got my master’s degree in Science Writing at Johns Hopkins. I’m interested in nature, the environment, birds, genetics, evolution, food, space, mental health, psychology, robotics, and many other topics
In my writing, I try to include the same sense of excitement and adventure I’ve found in works of sci-fi and fantasy. I hope to draw out the characters behind the discoveries, emphasizing how we can only learn about the universe through the kaleidoscopic lens of human experience.
While reporting this story for Washingtonian, I became a bona fide birder. My current favorite birds are the belted kingfisher, the cedar waxing, the blue jay, and the tufted titmouse (it’s the crests!).
I like to bake bread and I keep a sourdough starter named Dame Judi Dench.
I’ve played the electric bass in rock bands, jazz bands, and pit orchestras, and I’m doing my very best to learn bluegrass banjo.
I’m a big fan of tabletop and board games, and I’ve been a game master for for eight years.
